Rookies Contracts
- S1 is the contract you sign a player to when you take him in the Rookie Draft. After a year it can become an S2 with a 100% salary increase. No bidding.
- S2 is the second year of a rookie contract. It can become an S3 with another 100% salary increase. No bidding.
- S3 (Marked as "O" on A.S.S.) is the third year of a rookie contract. It can become an L1 (new Standard contract) at the average of the 10 highest paid players at the position. No bidding.
- NFL Rookies that are picked up during the season are signed to Standard (L1) contracts.
Veterans Contracts
- L1 is the original Standard contract signed at the Auction or free agency.
- L2 is the second year of an L1 contract.
It has the same price as the L1 contract.
You may elect to Transition or Franchise this type of contract after it has expired going into the Auction, although it has never happened.
- L3 (Option Year) is the third year in an L1 contract.
There is a mandatory 25% increase in the player salary to get this contract designation.
To keep a player with an L3 contract you must choose L4 or L7.
- L4 (Transition) is the first year of a Transition contract.
The player is available in the Auction starting at the L3 (previous year) price.
A team may only have TWO L4, L5 or L6 contracts to have a valid roster.
- L5 is the second year of a Transition contract. Same price as L4.
You may elect to Transition or Franchise this type of contract going into the Auction, although it has never happened.
- L6 (Transition Option Year) is the third year of a Transition contract.
There is a mandatory 25% increase in the player salary.
- L7 (Franchise) is the first year of a Franchise contract.
The player is available starting at the average of the top 3 highest paid players at the position.
A team may only have ONE L7, L8 or L9 contract to have a valid roster.
- L8 is the second year of a Franchise contract. Same price as L7.
You may elect to Transition or Franchise this type of contract going into the Auction, although it has never happened.
- L9 (Franchise Option Year) is the last year in a Franchise contract.
There is a mandatory 25% increase in the player salary.
There has never been an L9 contract in QFL history.
Transition Tagging
- Upon expiration an L2 can become an L4, new salary TBD at draft, biddable
- Upon expiration an L3 can become an L4, new salary TBD at draft, biddable
- Upon expiration an L5 can become an L4, new salary TBD at draft, biddable
- Upon expiration an L6 can become an L4, new salary TBD at draft, biddable
- Upon expiration an L8 can become an L4, new salary TBD at draft, biddable
- Upon expiration an L9 can become an L4, new salary TBD at draft, biddable
Franchise Tagging
- Upon expiration an L2 can become an L7, new salary base avg-3, no min, biddable
- Upon expiration an L3 can become an L7, new salary base avg-3, no min, biddable
- Upon expiration an L5 can become an L7, new salary base avg-3, no min, biddable
- Upon expiration an L6 can become an L7, new salary base avg-3, no min, biddable
- Upon expiration an L8 can become an L7, new salary base avg-3, no min, biddable
- Upon expiration an L9 can become an L7, new salary base avg-3, no min, biddable
Picking up the Option
- L2 can become an L3, 25% increase, usual rounding rules, no bidding
- L5 can become an L6, 25% increase, usual rounding rules, no bidding
- L8 can become an L9, 25% increase, usual rounding rules, no bidding
