|
|
RB |
Cardinals |
31 |
Wells has the fewest question marks of any of the rookie RBs. Yes, he has an injury history, he could have a new QB by 2010 and his offensive line was only OK in 2009, but, he's built like a feature back and the Cardinals drafted him to be one, so he is the safest #1 pick. Won't score any points receiving. |
2 |
|
Knowshon Moreno |
RB |
Broncos |
12 |
Denver's new coach and new QB are causes for concern. Buckhalter will take away some carries and goal line work. This isn't a Shanahan offense anymore where you automatically label their RB a stud. McDaniels is likely to use an RB by committee like they did in New England. Add in the fact that starting QB Kyle Orton will not exactly strike fear into opposing DBs and you have 8 men in the box most of the time. Denver does have an excellent O-line to run behind. |
3 |
|
LeSean McCoy |
RB |
Eagles |
53 |
Fortunately for keeper/dynasty league owners, Westbrook is 30 and injury prone so McCoy could be starting a couple games in 2009 and more in 2010. If you'll get points for his receptions, he might be a better target than Wells or Moreno. Philly's offensive line is one of the best. |
4 |
|
Shonn Greene |
RB |
Jets |
65 |
The Jets are calling him their RB of the future. Thats all we need to know for keeper/dynasty league rankings. Plus, the Jets offensive line is young and talented and Thomas Jones is almost 50 in football years and could be traded before or during the season. Won't catch any passes. |
5 |
|
Donald Brown |
RB |
Colts |
27 |
It's hard to believe the Colts would push Addai aside after one bad season when their offensive line was such a mess. Committee probable. |
6 |
|
Michael Crabtree |
WR |
49ers |
10 |
He'll start right away and his physical tools are great...but probably not great enough to make up for the horrible QB situation he was drafted into. |
7 |
|
Hakeem Nicks |
WR |
Giants |
29 |
You have to give the Giants scouting department the benefit of the doubt if they think Nicks can replace Burress. As a rule its tough to draft rookie WRs because they are too unpredictable especially in the first year, but Nicks is set up to be the WR1. |
8 |
|
James Davis |
RB |
Browns |
195 |
Jamal Lewis has been ancient for three years now and Jerome Harrison has not impressed. The Browns have one of the best offensive lines and could give Davis a chance to be their back of the future. |
9 |
|
Jeremy Maclin |
WR |
Eagles |
19 |
There is no way rookie WR lightning strikes twice in Philly, is there? Kevin Curtis' injuries could open the door, but Maclin's going to be the slot guy which will limit his value. Eagles like to spread the ball around so he could be involved immediately but wont post tons of receptions per game. |
10 |
|
Percy Harvin |
WR |
Vikings |
22 |
Could have been one of the top fantasy rookie prospects at WR, but his QB and playing time situations stink. Most overrated player in rookie class - how many rush attempts are they really going to take from AP to give to a rookie WR? Maybe worth more if you get special teams points. |
11 |
|
Kenny Britt |
WR |
Titans |
30 |
An eventual #1 WR, even on a running team, is a decent value in a rookie-only draft. |
12 |
|
Matthew Stafford |
QB |
Lions |
1 |
Are you willing to bet the the Lions will be any good in the next three years? If you are, you'll love Stafford. Just having Calvin Johnson to throw to gives him fantasy value. |
13 |
|
Mark Sanchez |
QB |
Jets |
5 |
The Jets QB could be worth a look, but he should prove something first. QBs usually take forever to develop (except for last year). No established #1 WR. |
14 |
|
Darrius Heyward-Bey |
WR |
Raiders |
7 |
He'll start right away and his QB has a gun, but this team made Darren McFadden irrelevant, so what can you expect from Heyward-Bey? Raiders passing game has a long way to go. |
15 |
|
Bernard Scott |
RB |
Bengals |
209 |
Been arrested five times, so will have no problems fitting in with the teammates. Unimpressive depth chart ahead of him. |
16 |
|
Glen Coffee |
RB |
49ers |
74 |
Backing up Frank Gore has some value...to Frank Gore owners. |
17 |
|
Rashad Jennings |
RB |
Jaguars |
250 |
Once he passes Chauncy Washington on the depth chart, he is at worst MJD's handcuff on a run-first offense. |
18 |
|
Brandon Pettigrew |
TE |
Lions |
20 |
Will start immediately, so if you really need a TE he might be worth a look. Young QBs tend to dump off to the TE more often. |
19 |
|
Mohamed Massaquoi |
WR |
Browns |
50 |
With the Browns shedding receivers, he could move up relatively quickly. |
20 |
|
Mike Goodson |
RB |
Panthers |
111 |
Has two top performers ahead of him, but has NFL speed, quickness. Top-5 prospect coming out of high school but underachieved in college. |
21 |
|
Cedric Peerman |
RB |
Ravens |
185 |
Dominated at Combine, but has a crowd in front of him. |
22 |
|
Brian Robiskie |
WR |
Browns |
36 |
Could end up being WR1 to start the season if Braylon Edwards finally gets traded. If not he should still be involved immediately. Looking like the 5th WR right now. |
23 |
|
Mike Thomas |
WR |
Jaguars |
107 |
With three rookie WRs vying for playing time, one of them has got to pan out. Early indications are that Thomas is the favorite, and he was drafted highest. |
24 |
|
Austin Collie |
WR |
Colts |
127 |
Possible Colts 3rd WR has value. |
25 |
|
Ramses Barden |
WR |
Giants |
85 |
Could fill red zone role vacated by Plaxico due to his 6'6" frame. |
26 |
|
Brian Hartline |
WR |
Dolphins |
|
Looks like he's going to come out of nowhere to start. Doesn't mean you want him on your team. |
27 |
|
Louis Murphy |
WR |
Raiders |
|
Possible desperation starter for a Raiders team that's already thin due to injuries. You'd have to be pretty desperate to start him in fantasy. |
28 |
|
Juaquin Iglesias |
WR |
Bears |
99 |
Let's see his rapport with Cutler first. A tempting pick if he can pass some of the stiffs on the Bears WR depth chart this preseason. |
29 |
|
Tiquan Underwood |
WR |
Jaguars |
253 |
Drafted much lower than his fellow Jags rookie WRs, but we like his potential. |
30 |
|
Josh Freeman |
QB |
Buccaneers |
17 |
No lock for playing time, but the Bucs might end up with no choice but to rush him. |
31 |
|
Javarris Williams |
RB |
Chiefs |
212 |
With Chiefs RB situation up in the air (along with the rest of the team) he could surprise by playing a role this year. Team probably planning to throw more, though. |
32 |
|
Javon Ringer |
RB |
Titans |
173 |
Dropped off the radar after getting dissed in NFL Draft. Two good preseason games get him back on. |
33 |
|
Jarrett Dillard |
WR |
Jaguars |
144 |
All-time leader in NCAA TD catches - that has to count for something. |
34 |
|
Deon Butler |
WR |
Seahawks |
91 |
Excellent speed, and injury prone Burleson and Branch ahead of him for WR2. |

|
Andre Brown |
RB |
Giants |
129 |
No higher than 3rd on the depth chart to start the season, but after Jacobs gets injured (he usually does) Brown could emerge. Has NFL speed. Update: Out for 2009 season with ruptured Achilles. |
XXX |
|
Brandon Tate |
WR |
Patriots |
83 |
Would have been ranked ahead of college teammate Nicks a couple years ago, but knee injury makes him a big question mark. Update: Out for 2009 season with knee injury. |
