It’s looking like a lean year for fantasy football rookies in 2010. That makes this weekend’s NFL Draft all the more important. If you’re part of QFL Nation or a fantasy football keeper or dynasty league team owner with a top pick in your rookie draft, you are hoping for the following to occur this weekend:

  1. Ryan Mathews.  You hope Mathews falls to the Chargers at #28, you do not want to see him drafted by Houston at #20.
  2. Dez Bryant. The best you can realistically hope for is Dez Bryant gets picked #11 by Denver. Even though Orton stinks, Denver would rely heavily on Dez Bryant as the #1 WR right away. The best, but less likely, scenario would have Bryant drop to Cinci at #21 or New England at #22.
  3. CJ Spiller. You really hope Seattle takes Spiller with their #6 pick. He would be featured right away by the Seahawks. You do not want him to fall to the Giants at #15 where they would bury him in a committee.
  4. Jahvid Best. Best is most often linked to the Lions in the early second round and that might not be as bad a situation as it sounds after you consider he would be surrounded by other very talented skill position players (if not an offensive line) in Stafford, Calvin Johnson and Pettigrew.
