The first QFL free agency bids of the 2010 season will be accepted tonight by email only. Tree bids will invalidate all bids by that team (McD) reminded Pope Paul in a morning email to his league. His excellency also attempted to explain the off-season tiebreaker policy, which I still don’t understand after three years of use. Â From Pope Paul.Â
Free agency starts this week. Â Please follow these instructions:Â
- FA will be handled offline of ASS until the season starts, as in previous years. Â
- Bids must me emailed to the commissionerq at yahoo.com account by the deadline.
- TREE/CONDITIONAL BIDDING IS NOT ALLOWED IN PRE-SEASON.  Any conditional bids sent in will void ALL of your bids. Â
- As in previous years, ties will be broken using the following random number system:
- 1)  A random list of 30 numbers from 1-12 will be generated from the website http://www.random.org/integers/ and sent out to the league sometime on Wednesday.  Â
2) Â Each team’s number will correspond to its team number on A.S.S.Â
3)  Ties will be broken in alphabetical order according to the player in question (last name then first), and each specific tie is broken before we move to the next tie.  The closest team number in a given tie wins, or we move to the next number.  To be fair, numbers 1 and 12 will be considered 1 number away, ie if the number is 12, and teams 1 and 11 are involved, this is a tie.  The same would be the case if the number is 12 and teams 2 and 10 are involved.  This should prevent any given team number from having any advantage.  Here is an example:ÂThis is a sample number list of 10 random numbers:Â
12Â
10Â
4Â
7Â
4Â
8Â
1Â
12Â
5Â
6ÂSay there are 3 ties:Â
Scott (team 10) and Ted (team 5) both bid $2 on John DoeÂ
Rishi (team 3) and Paul (team 4) both bid $3 on John SmithÂ
Shane (team 12) , Jay (team 2) and Seth (team 6) all bid $4 Joe DoeÂThe order of determination would be:Â
Joe Doe, John Doe, John SmithÂTie #1:Â
The number is 12, so Scott would win this tie (10 closer to 12 than 5). Â ÂTie #2Â
We move to the second number which is 10. Â Rishi (3) is actually closer to 10 than Paul (4) going in reverse so he wins. Â ÂTie #3Â
We go to the third number which is 4. Â Jay (2) and Seth (6) tie again but Shane (12) is eliminated. Â Â
We go to the 4th number, 7. Â Seth wins the tieÂTie #4 would start with the 5th number.Â
