Thrice’s run of undefeated teams late into the season was broken in week 9 when Quimby suffered its first loss. Here’s how the rest of QFL3 shapes up for the playoff push…
#1 Vote Quimby (8-1) 813.86
The ultimate in ‘win now’ now mentality – Eric made it known coming into the season that with four Q3 contracts and pricey Q2’s that this was the year to win Thrice. How did the rest of the league let this guy scoop up Peyton and Charles for $1 a few years ago? The health of Fitz and Megatron are a minor concern. The loss in week 9, with half the team on bye, may be the only blemish for the season.
#2 Golden Smoot (8-1) 736.8
Kevan and Ben are falling over themselves to improve their team for a playoff run. Morris and Brees are huge adds (even if it left the team with a shaky week 7 QB situation) to a team that only had *one* legit RB on the team early in the season. KC defense is a huge boost, but sub-par opponents have helped too…only 558pts scored against (least in league).
#3 Revenge of the Cox (6-3) 758.76
Chase is winning the Noord (not a typo) division and just broke a three game losing streak. This is the team that dropped Brady and put all of its faith in Russell Wilson – but Foles (same bye week as Wilson) and Fitzpatrick are not legit bye week QBs.
#4 Qutane (7-2) 732.18
Riding a 4 game winnings streak but still chasing Smoot. With Spiller hurting and MJD a let down, Lynch stands as the only dependable RB for Jason — who is getting through with excellent WR and TEs.
#5 Balti-Morons (5-4) 638.33
The Morons have had a little help, picking up one win on a technicality after an illegal lineup. Is Zac Stacy for $10 really worth it? Seems like a rental. Getting rid of Foster pre-draft looks genius now.
#6 The Rushing Russians (5-4) 589.85
Ouch – Nick is on a 3 game losing streak. This is the unfortunate team to hold Wayne, Martin and Finley. Ray Rice has been a big disappointment, and Vick may not get his starting job back. Was in 1st place just 2 weeks ago.
#7 Qtopia (3-6) 663.46
Poor commish. Doug has scored a ton of points and should normally have a better record to show for it, but his opponents have scored just as much this year. Roddy White’s health, and a lack of WR depth, probably forced the trade for Jones this week.
#8 Raging Alcoholics (3-6) 644.66
Getting Gronk back is a huge boost, but at some point S-Jax’s $20 contract might become too much of an albatross to keep. Is 0-4 vs. division opponents.
#9 Al Toon All Stars (3-6) 564.4
Rodgers, Foster, and V-Jax take up a ton of cap space – but there hasn’t been a whole lot of production from the cheap contracts.
#10 Quickly Eliminated (3-6) 569.05
Tom spent big draft money on David Wilson – who now sits on IR – and Eli, so betting on the Giants probably wasn’t a good thing…but he was able to scoop up Brady on waivers. Three 2nd round rookie picks will come in handy for the plethora of transition tagged players due to hit next year.
#11 Ron Mexiq (2-7) 495.51
Solid production out of rookies Bernard and Lacy, but next to nothing out of the rest of the team. Julio Jones is done for the year, which is a problem since the next best WR is Anquan Boldin.
#12 H-Tizzie Like A Ross (1-8) 539.82
Ross finally picked up a win in week 9. Unfortunately the RB core of Johnson, Richardson and McFadden have been hurt or just not performing to expectations. Tim Wright (who?) is Ross’ starting WR this week…
