For those investigating the timing of this trade, it was completed last night before FA was run. The email announcement including Membrillos player drops were time stamped in my email as 1:01 AM. FA results on the site are time stamped as 1:02 AM. Just in case someone thinks that VJax was traded after Sooms FA signing of Peyton Manning be assured it was not.
2) Qonies sends Drew Brees $24 L7

Motivations?
1) Obviously Nik felt VJax will be a boost over Vernon Davis for his playoff push. The Skins defense was probably added for salary reasons as he dropped the $6 salaried Saints. Reuven may like the players he got back but it appears his greatest motivation was to free up cap space for his hopeful addition of Peyton Manning at $14 for next season. He was successful in his FA bid for Manning.
2) Ed after dropping Manning and Schaub had plenty of room for Brees contract in 2011 and beyond. Still well in the playoff hunt being able to add Drew Brees without disassembling his current team was too much to resist. Paul began offering Brees in multiple proposals after seeing the availability of Manning and Schaub. Unbelievably, while in contention for the #1 overall seed and hopeful of a SuperQuince win he traded Brees for draft picks only even after FA was run. Clearly this is a salary capped dynasty league only maneuver. If Palmer and Hasselbeck hold up through the playoffs and carry him through he is now in a great position to field an even stronger team next season, but who the hell does that? He is already having seller’s remorse.
