Laugh it up now

First, a look around QFL Nation weekly skins; for the third week in a row no team, from any League, won a skin. There is now over $1,000 in the skins kitty across all Leagues.

The hapless DBQ (2-7) franchise (QFL) miraculously scored the most points of any QFL Nation team with 92.77 in week 9. In the QFL this score served to drag down the average to beat to 98.06 in week 10 when there are six skins worth $450 available.

After much criticism last week for starting 4 bye week players Quahogs earned the top score in QFL2 in week 9. Although his 83.66 dropped the average to win in week 10 down to 101.17. There are three skins worth $150 available in week 10.

Poor Balti-Morons. The team has earned 4 weekly high scores, including the last 3 in a row, but only has one skin to show for it. Morons’ 89.29 points in week 9 pulled the average to win down to 95.46. Seven worth $420 available in week 10.

Movers & Shakers

QFL Week 9 Edition

#1 FahQ (8-1) – Does anyone else remember specifically trying to avoid Buffalo players at the 2011 Auction? Detroit players? Indy? Not Shane. He loaded up and the payoff has been huge! What ever happened to the Commissioner jinx? Hopefully week 9 is the start of a slide. Even if the team doesn’t win another regular season game they will make the playoffs. FahQ is one of three teams to have never won the Championship. The others are QU and BQP. Although Bing’s Quest is under new management now so technically he hasn’t won a Quince Bowl either.

#2 TenQ (6-3) – The defending Champion’s lucky ratio will likely show that TenQ should rightfully be 9-0 if not for pure bad luck. How long will TenQ terrorize The QFL with stud core starters Brees, McCoy and Calvin for $42 total salary cap? Not to worry. Only Brees’ salary is locked up after this season. Expect the team to be trading Witten ($4 L8) in the off-season too. Why hasn’t the team pulled DeMarco Murray up from QFL Europa yet? Perhaps the team is wary of starting three Dallas players on a regular basis (regularly starts Bryant and Witten already). I could see a divestiture happening. Who has Benny’s number?

#3 QU (5-4) – Hans is a game ahead in the South with an undefeated division record and a commanding lead in division point totals, so week 9 could appear to be a minor hiccup to some. The truth is the team is barely hanging on. If you look at the larger picture you will see that Hans’ total score, while tops in the South, is embarrassingly low compared to the North division teams and some of the West. The most apathetic team in the off-season continues that trend into the regular season. The records show Hans has executed 5 free agent bids. That’s compared to QBC’s 4. Put together, the team is a mess and ripe for a fall.

#4 Bing’s Quest (5-4) –The new guy snapped a two game losing streak against #3 ranked and division leader Quince United in week 9. This serial trader hasn’t pulled off a deal in 7 days perhaps due to a lack of liquidity with only 16 active roster players. Team has two skins. Only TenQ and QTang have also won skins to date.

#5 Queef (5-4) – Queef blew it by 3 points against QTang in week 9. The team would otherwise be only one game behind FahQ in the West division with 4 games to go in the regular season. Paul’s baby on board announcement makes at least four QFL buns in the oven right now, including one unannounced one that I can’t say more about yet (not mine, some one elses).

#6 QBC (4-5) – What does it mean that BQP and QBC both have total scores of 666 as of week 9?!! My not so bold prediction is that QBC will not win one more game as a result of this bad omen. They probably wouldn’t have anyway, but this seals it.

#7 BQP (4-5) – BQP, on the other hand, will win out. The 666 omen could not be more lucky for Shades. The stars may finally be aligning for BQP, even a 3-1 finish to the regular season could be enough to make playoffs.

#8 Quince (4-5) – Q hasn’t scored in the 70s in 5 weeks. The all-in Eagles strategy is boom or bust. Bust. Done.

#9 QTang (4-5) – Julio Jones accounted for 38% of QTang’s 63 points in week 9. Fork. Done.

#10 Original Q (4-5) – Michael Jenkins for $9?! BAAAAAHHH!! He lasted two weeks on Rishi’s roster and he didn’t even start him. Thanks for the $2 in transaction fees Q. And thank you again for the additional $2 in fees when you eventually waive DeAngelo. Rishi is keeping track of rule proposals. Here is what he has so far:
1. Rob’s 5 WR formation
2. 3RB/2WR formation
3. 2 F/A period per week. The second period comes with a $25 transaction fee for each person acquired
4. Allow teams to reconcile salary caps (after waiver wire or free agency pick ups) through trades. Failure to reconcile rosters by midnight after the pick up (either waiver wire or free agency) results in a $50 fine.
5. Eliminate any notion of future considerations
6. Give Commish broader authority to determine “uncompetitive” or “unfair” practices
7. All trades must be reported to the league by email or via Seth’s blog within 24 hours after making the moves on A.S.S.
8. Hans has to make one trade per season
9. The QBC Michael Jackson/Janet Jackson are the same person amendment – For all future years of the QFL, Jim and Ian cannot be present at the same auction
10. Practice Squad raids. We should mimic the rules used by the NFL regarding PS’s. They should not be a storage device without any risk

#11 SOQ (4-5) – It seems like Scott gets hit by the injury bug every year. No less than five of Scott’s regular starters have gone down for significant periods this season. Only this season the injuries are taking a toll on wins. Still 3 more wins and Scott has a chance depending on tie breakers (the rankings used in this post are based on total points not QFL tiebreakers). SOQ and DBQ each executed last minute starting lineup changes before week 9 (although I don’t know how, most times I try to use the site at a high traffic time it’s unworkable). SOQ benched Giants D for Patriots D at 12:58. It was the wrong call, but it wouldn’t have mattered, Scott still would have lost by three.

#12 DBQ (2-7) – The only QFL team mathematically eliminated from the playoffs already, switched out Steelers D for Rams D at 12:59 on Sunday. It was the right call by 12 points, but in the end McD would have easily beaten FahQ’s Curtis Painter led offense without the torment that comes with last second changes. DBQ just missed $375 worth of skins by 6 points in week 9. Week 10’s six skins would be $450 under 2010 prices. Still owns both rookie picks in 2012. The first round pick is practically guaranteed to be top 5.
