QFL Rules is a new column on QSN, about… you guessed it, QFL rules. I get questions all the time about different rule interpretations so instead of continuing to answer them in private, this column will publish the discourse for all to learn from and enjoy. All identities will be protected, unless it’s a really stupid question.
This week’s batch of questions all have to do with the Franchise Tag:
Q: I currenty have multiple first round rookie picks this year. If I bid and successfully sign a frachise player at the auction, I get the option of giving one of those picks plus a pick from next year’s rookie draft. I do not have to surrender both of the picks for this year, correct?
A: Correct. You get to choose which two first round rookie picks you give up as compensation if you win a franchise tagged player. At least one pick has to be for that year’s draft, but both do not have to be, they can be (and usually are) staggered as you mentioned.
 Q: Saw your post on the website about QFL2 franchise pricing (which Duggan erased). shouldn’t the franchise price amounts be rounded up rather than down? for instance, the top 3 RB salaries sum up to 85 which is an average of 28.33. Is the Franchise price then 28 or 29? You have it listed as 28.
A: I have always applied normal rounding rules to franchise prices. I pinged Scott to double check tho, but if I’m wrong ive been calculating this incorrectly for years.
