There are an astounding 10 teams still in playoff contention in QFL3. Here’s how things shape up:
Your Division Leaders:
1) Balti-Morons (11-0)
2) Vote Quimby (7-4)
3) Golden Smoot (5-6)
The Muddled Middle:
4) Qutane (6-5) [H2H over Quickly]
5) Quickly Eliminated (6-5) [Best division record]
6) The Rushing Russians (6-5) [More total points than Qtopia]
7) Qtopia (6-5)
8) Revenge of the Cox (5-6)
9) Raging Alcoholics (4-7) [More total points than Goonie]
All But out of it:
10) Goonie Goo Goo (4-7)
11) Ron Mexiq (3-8) [Better division record over Al Toon]
12) Al Toon All Stars (3-8)
It gets a little complicated…so here’s a refresher on divisional makeup:
North: Morons, Qutane, Cox, Goonie
South: Quimby, Quickly, Qtopia, Russians
West: Smoot, Raging, Mexiq, Toon
First of all, in what almost doesn’t make sense, if Mexiq can win out the regular season he (with a little help) would jump to the #3 seed and win the west. A Smoot loss this week would set up Mexiq vs. Smoot in week 13, and Mexiq would hold the H2H tiebreaker that would result if he wins next week to take the division. Toon needs to beat Smoot to make this happen, and with 5 Thanksgiving game players netting only 28 points for Smoot it’s certainly a possibility.
As for the south, it’s wide open. A win by Quimby this week wouldn’t put the division away. A win this week and next is the only sure way to take the division, otherwise there are options (Quimby is just 1-3 in the division) for the rest of the division to sneak in.
Finally, by comparison to the other divisions, there’s not a lot going on in the north. Cox needs a win vs. the Morons this week to hold on to his sliver of playoff dreams. And while Qutane is on more solid ground, he too needs to win this or next week to full solidify this standing.
