#1 Golden Smoot – (2-0) Don’t look now, but Richman & Wolfert are sitting pretty, nearly becoming the top scoring team 2 weeks running. This team is proof that being thrifty can pay off. Smoot had a stock pile near the end of the debacle of an online draft and does not have a salary more than $9 on the whole team.
#2 Qtopia – (2-0) Doug hasn’t altered is lineup one iota after the draft, but clearly things are working well. A wishbone with Charles, Forte, and S-Jax has gotten this team off to a hot start. Something will have to change by week 4 though, when Romo goes on bye and the only other QB on this roster is a disappointing Matt Leinart…
#3 Balti-Morons – (2-0) It’s been two nail biters for Duncan and Kalb, with only a 4pt margin of victory in week one and needing a huge Monday night from Gore (and a dud of a game from Crabtree) to pull out another close game this week. This team might not be able to survive on a QB rotation of V.Y, Alex Smith, and Seneca Wallace though.
#4 Raging Alcoholics – (1-1) When you score 85 points each week, you’d expect to be 2-0, but not here. Boldin’s franchise tag hasn’t paid off big, yet, but a dirt cheap Orton (who needs him with Cutler?) and high scoring Fins’ D have led from the start. Reggie Bush hadn’t cracked the starting lineup, but he’ll be expensive ($17) to hold on to for the next 6 weeks. Oh, and what is Pat White still doing on the practice squad!?!?
#5 Qutane – (1-1) Commish Radeck has always had a fairly high scoring team, and this year is no different. Schaub, DeSean Jackson, are the early leaders here. However, cheap pick up Brandon Jackson and MJD are going to have to step up to keep this team going.
#6 Rushing Russians – (1-1) Losing Grant didn’t hurt Nick as he bounced back big in week 2. Carrying a league leading 28 players, there was plenty of RB depth here to keep running the wishbone. That’s a good thing, since outside of Andre Johnson there’s hardly a WR of note.
#7 Ron Mexiq – (1-1) Dan is carrying 3 QBs and benching Brees and Ryan (!), playing the good Manning, weekly and still averaging over 70 points. There’s been enough production & talent at WR with Murphy, Sims-Walker, and Dez Bryant to cushion the loss of V Jax for perhaps the year. Money bets one of those 3 QBs is moved by the trade deadline.
#8 Revenge of the Cox – (1-1) If Smoot is the model for fiscal prudence, Cox is the total opposite. Chase has spent $85 between just 4 players. Granted, that gives you a top QB, RB, and two #1 WRs, it also leaves you with players like LenDale White and a lot of $1 players. Nonetheless, it nearly made this team 2-0….so props. With no real RB after Turner, and with Kolb benched no real QB behind Brady, bye weeks should be hell.
#9 Goonie Goo Goo – (0-2) Yea, they’re winless…but Goo has scored more points than the remaining 3 teams. Favre and J. Stewart are off to slow starts, but when they come around combined with J. Best, Austin, and C. Johnson…this team becomes scary. A few of their 11 RBs might be worth keeping after cut downs too.
#10 Quickly Eliminated – (1-1) Five rookie picks, combined with key injuries make Tom the team with the lowest point total so far. Beanie Wells, Ben Tate, Sidney Rice, and now Ryan Mathews have been out for this team. The future with these youngsters no doubt looks bright, but they may be one year away.
#11 Vote Quimby – (0-2) Things may be looking up for Wise & Co. Is picking up Gradkowski the answer? Maybe, after both QBs on the roster put up negative points last week. Shonn Greene may be in a timeshare now, but Eric was able to pick up Tolbert on the cheap as an alternative.
#12 Al Toon All Stars – (0-2) This week’s matchup will likely come down to MNF, as Cutler goes against Rodgers for Mike. It might take a bit to pick up the pieces from how BriBlackburn left the team, but there’s talent at WR (all signed for $4 or $7 strangely…)
