Is it me or are there a ton of quince blogs popping up everywhere? This week we posted a comment on The Quince Tree Blog and got a response…Exclusive interview with Sue from The Quince Tree Blog.
Q. What inspired you to name your blog after the quince tree?
A. I have a quince tree growing in my garden. I planted it shortly after we moved to this house about 11 years ago. I love quinces, they are unusual and beautiful. They are exotic yet historically a very English fruit. The Elizabethans and Stuarts grew them and there are many old old recipes using quinces. Just keep reading until October-November when I shall be making lots of quince delicacies :o)
Historically speaking, the quince didn’t reach England until the 13th century. The Greeks are the real quinces in history, they were writing about them as far back as 600 BCE.
