Top 5 Fantasy Football Rookies in 2010 based on projected draft result.

#1 Ryan Mathews – RB, Chargers – There is plenty of speculation that the Chargers will take Matthews with the 28th overall pick (if Houston doesn’t take him with #20). We’ve long held the belief that any RB selected by the Chargers would be an instant fantasy football star.

#2 Dez Bryant – WR, Steelers – Rarely do we advocate a rookie WR among the top 5 fantasy football prospects, but this guy seems to have it all, including a diva complex and other Randy Moss-like qualities.

#3 Jahvid Best – RB, Lions – Should Best last until the 34th pick, the Lions are said to be ready to pounce. If the Lions address their offensive line issues there is a good chance Best could be a surprise keeper league darling teamed with Stafford and Calvin Johnson for the next few years.

#4 CJ Spiller – RB, Giants – If Spiller falls any where near the Giants’ 15th overall pick, they are said to be prepared to trade up to get him. If so, talk about a committee approach with Jacobs, Bradshaw, Brown, Ware and Gartrell Johnson already there.

#5 Jonathan Dwyer – RB, Browns – It would be hard to get excited about any Brown’s rookie RB, but maybe Harrison’s heroics last season broke the jinx. Over the last ten years the Browns have drafted seven running backs and none have panned out: Travis Prentice (#63 in 2000), James Jackson (#65 in 2001), William Green (#16 in 2002), Lee Suggs (#115 in 2003), Adimchinobe Echemandu (#208 in 2004), Jerome Harrison (#145 in 2006) and James Davis (#195 in 2009).
