I admit I did not record the final standings last year. Probably out of frustration after missing the playoffs and finishing 9th for the second year in a row. I do get bitter, ask Rishi. Nonetheless I can prove Scott finished last by deductive reasoning.

We do have a few clues and I did print out game-by-game results including the playoffs. We know the top 4 teams from the Commissioner Report and #7, #8 and #9 from the rookie draft. We assume that since FahQ didn’t win a playoff game, they came in last in the winner bracket and BQP by default was 5th.That’s the winner bracket.

#1 Quince

#2 FRNQ

#3 SwineQ

#4 OrigQ

#5 BQP (1-1 playoff record)

#6 FahQ (last place in winner bracket based on 0-2 playoff record)

The loser bracket top 3 is easy to get from rookie draft, but then the last three is more difficult with incomplete playoff records to go on.

#7 QU

#8 QTang

#9 TenQ

That leaves QBC (6-7, 1-1) SOQ (6-7, 0-2) and QUnet (5-8, 0-2)

#10 QBC since QBC won a playoff game and none of the other remaining teams did I slot him here.

#11 QUnet both QUnet and SOQ were recorded as being 0-2 in the playoffs.

#12 SOQ if it was QUnet that is quite a fall from grace as he won it all for the second time in 2008. But i guess I concede it could have been QUnet not SOQ that finished last in 2009. But, even so it will always be a mystery and Scott will always have to live with the fact that there is no way to prove he did not finish in last place in 2009.

  1. Did you even read my last post? It clearly presented evidence that proved that I did not finish in last place. Here it is again:

“There is no way I could have finished last in the playoffs because I had a first week bye in the loser’s bracket. So did you. We both proceeded to lose our first game and then played each other to see who got #3 overall and who fell all the way to #6 overall. You won and got the #3 overall. I fell to #6 because only the first 3 picks go to the toilet bowl top 3. Then it switches back to regular season finish and I was the highest seed and therefore got the lowest pick. So to summarize; I finished 7th overall in the regular season and 10th overall in the playoffs. You finished 8th overall in the regular season and 9th overall in the playoffs.”

  2. This is based on the following email, which I sent you and comcom last year:

    The final standings were:
    1 SWINE Q
    2 QUINCE
    3 OQ
    4 FREDNEQ
    5 FAHQ
    6 BQP
    7 SOQ
    8 TENQ
    9 QBC
    10 QUNET
    11 QTANG
    12 QU

This is a big game for me and Seth because whoever wins gets the #3 overall and whoever loses drops all the way to #6 overall.

The 2010 Rookie Draft Order will be:
    1. QU or QTANG
    2. QU or QTANG
    3. SOQ or TENQ
    4. QUNET
    5. QBC
    6. SOQ or TENQ
    7. BQP
    8. FAHQ
    9. FREDNEQ
    10. OQ
    11. QUINCE
    12. SWINEQ

  3. In case it’s not already painfully clear that you are wrong, here is Paul’s take:

“The following message shows that you two knuckleheads played each other in the ninth place game last year. Seth won that game and received the third overall pick for finishing third in the losers’ bracket. Scott lost the game, finished 10th overall, and received the sixth pick in the draft on account of his regular season record and having the highest seed in the losers’ bracket (which incidentally, precluded Scott from finishing lower than tenth place).”

  4. Okay so SOQ was tenth in 2009. So is below right? the “final standings” you reference in comments above are regular season finish (also useful to have). Love that most of the 2010 final four weren’t even in the playoffs last year.
